It offers the unique characteristics that only a large-aperture F1.4 lens can offer: shallow depth of field along with superior low-light and hand-held performance.

A few sorts of optical variation can influence the picture nature of a focal point. Chromatic abnormality is among the most significant, and limiting it is fundamental. There are two kinds of chromatic abnormality: cross over, which can be rectified for with advanced handling; and hub, which is hard to limit after a shot is taken.

In the 35mm F1.4 DG HSM, FLD ("F" Low Dispersion) glass, which is comparable to fluorite in its attributes, and SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass help advance the force circulation of the focal point. This streamlining limits hub chromatic variation by making the various frequencies of light strike a similar center position while additionally limiting cross over chromatic deviation.
