The M.Zuiko Digital ED 45mm F1.2 PRO delivers beautiful feathered bokeh that blends the image from focused sections to out-of-focus sections and provides a smooth impression to the defocused background, providing more depth to the image by making the subject stand out further.

The M.Zuiko Digital ED 45mm F1.2 PRO adopts a design which intentionally guides light beams passing on the outside edges of the lens to form an image in the foreground, while gradually tilting the lens as the spherical aberration moves towards the outside edge. Intentionally keeping spherical aberrations results in beautiful feathered bokeh.

Optimal placement of 3 cemented ED lenses effectively correct Êunfocused colour bleeding (axial chromatic aberration) common to large-diameter lenses as well as color bleeding (magnification chromatic aberration) at the screen periphery.

Also, an aspherical lens is placed near the aperture and 4 HR lenses are employed to achieve thorough suppression of comatic aberration. The optimal lens placement for a medium telephoto lens results in excellent optical performance that delivers beautiful feathered bokeh and accurate depiction of points even at the widest aperture setting.

Coating technology is employed which coats the lens surface with a layer of nanoscale size particles that have air in the centre, resulting in a coating with a similar refractive index as air and reduced surface reflection. Ghosts and flaring are significantly reduced for sharp, clear image quality.
